You look at this picture and yeah it looks pretty cyberpunk. But then you notice the ‘hoverboard’ they’re riding and it takes it to a whole new level! https://t.co/WE3D5QmlvL
To paraphrase Steve Carell’s character in The Big Short: “Everyone’s about to get screwed and they’re all walking around like they’re in a god damn Enya video.”
I wonder if more people would be depressed about coronavirus if they could comprehend the size of the recession that is about to follow.
The economic impact is going to be far worse than the health impact for the average person.
Some will die, but many more will lose their jobs
Football players often come back from the end of season break with significant weight gain. Imagine what some of them are going to look like thanks to this huge long holiday via Coronavirus?! 16 stone strikers as far as the eye can see. I expect next season may be a lethargic one
I know #SpiritOfTheBlitz is a bit of a cliche and all that. But the number of previously standoffish neighbours who have checked on my Grandmum - who lives alone - is insane. I think she’s actually getting tired of people offering to buy her supplies ha.
Coronavirus is what Vin Diesel has suffered with in every single Fast and Furious movie.
I myself have to deal with the effects of Budweiserfever on a daily basis.
.@maxrichtermusic’s “Sleep” album is actually too beautiful to sleep to. But it’s also too melancholy to wake up to. So I’m pairing it with Varlam Shalamov’s “Kolyma Stories” that I’m currently reading. It makes a fantastic musical backdrop to depressing Russian gulag literature!
While I wait for my order here’s some names of adhesives in Screwfix: Sticks Like Shit, The Works, No Nonsense!, The Dogs Bollcocks, OB1 Job Done, Sticks Like Shit TURBO.
My favourite films of this year: “Crown Vic” (OTT and unrealistic, but insanely intense), “Terminator: Dark Fate” (a fun popcorn flick), “The Nightingale” (painful and beautiful), “The Two Popes” (an acting showcase), “The Lighthouse” (just stunning all around).
“Little Women”, “Ford vs. Ferrari”, “1917” and “Jojo Rabbit” I’m still yet to see. But I think that maybe 2019 is just not an especially strong year for film. Plenty of 7/10 movies, not a lot of 9/10 ones, sadly.
“The Irishman” was lifeless & joyless, the product of a uninspired old director. “Marriage Story” was not for me as I’m not a New York Yuppie. “Parasite” and “Joker” I liked. Interesting films that had something to say and are certainly worth your attention, for all their faults.
Catching up on this years films, pre-Oscars. “Once Upon A Time… In Hollywood” was so bad it actually hurt. Some great performances overshadowed by Tarantino’s fucking foot fetish. An overly long bloated corpse of a movie that will be forgotten by 2022. Genuinely shameful.
I’m sure it’s purely accidental that all the ice dispensers in self-serve drinks machines continue delivering ice long after you’ve stopped pressing the button. It’s certainly not to to save the companies money by making your cup full of cheap ice.
According to my notes tonight’s viewing of “The Matrix” is my twelve.
I feel like all great films should make you think within the first ten minutes ‘wow, this is going to be a great ride, I’m excited!’ The Matrix delivers that every time. Over 20 years old and still wonderful.
Okay, think I’m giving up on #TheCrown season 3. Only the-always-excellent Jason Watkins as Harold Wilson isn’t playing either a caricature or a vacuum.
What season 3 has done to Prince Phillip compared to previous seasons is reason enough for abandonment. https://t.co/UwAunsf4Yv
Just watched The Crown S01E01. Mmm. Felt rushed and ham fisted, with zero subtlety or tension. Seemed like it belonged in the middle of the season, bizarrely. No character reintroduction at all either. Here’s hoping it gets better :/
