Though to be fair every single thing currently biding their time in my ‘books to read’ towers I can’t wait to read! Thomas Cromwell, Vietnam, Napoleon, Churchill, Fall of the British Empire, modern Russian dodginess, Christmas, alcohol, and several books on London.
AI is going to take over the world? Try asking Alexa to pause a timer or tell you the weather at a specific hour and you’ll realise we’re still a long way off.
It’s really sad when you stumble upon a cool looking blog then notice that the last post has a date of ‘2011’ or something.
You wonder what happened. Are they now just posting their thoughts to Twitter? Have they moved to Medium or Tumblr? Did they just give up on writing?
I’m always struggling to find t-shirts which fit me. I bought a Nine Inch Nails one the other day and its fit is perfect. So I guess I’m just gonna have to be a band t-shirt wearing douche everyday from now on.
RIP ‘American Apparel Plain Fine Jersey Short Sleeve T-Shirt’.
It’s the most wonderful time of the month: coffee delivery day. I even timed it perfectly, running out of my previous batch yesterday. And this morning I definitely wasn’t waiting at my front door waiting for the postman to arrive and shaking. https://t.co/XlogFKRN2J
To me it sometimes feels like money is just ‘corporation tokens’ that you move from one conglomerate to another. Doesn’t matter if you’re buying soap, socks, chocolate or haemorrhoid cream, it’s going to end up in the pocket of some company with a market cap of $100B+.
We now have the technology for robots to replace human jobs. But we don’t have the society for humans to replace that former income. That’s why I don’t like it.
“But three day work weeks and universal income will arrive and save the day.” That will never happen sadly.
I hate robots taking human jobs, but I also hate interacting with humans. So going into a McDonalds is a nightmare for me. Machine or human to take my order? I’ll be honest 9/10 I just use the self-service machine.
Creating “best of” playlists for musicians is fine, but I’m a big fan of making “without the shit” playlists. It usually includes 70% of the songs on their first 5 albums, 40% of their middle 5 albums and usually avoids everything they made after the age of 42.
Drinking: Jack Daniels + Coke Zero. Listening: Nine Inch Nails “The Downward Spiral”. https://t.co/35YiHeAHAj Writing: blog post about how to use reddit productively and not let it engulf your life.
Also: what’s with this trend of houses being lit up by about 76 LED lights?
And they have to be in the roof/floor pointing down/up and an inch from the wall so the beams are sharp against the brickwork. Why light up an entire area when you can light up a 1 meter piece of wall?
Who are these maniacs who are illuminating the outside of their houses with blue lights‽ I’m genuinely worried they might be colour blind and accidentally got blue bulbs. Because no sane person would buy blue ones surely?
Everyone always focuses on the eyes of the law. But what about the ears of the law and the nose of the law?
The nose of the law is responsible for 87% of all cannabis arrests and yet the nose of the law gets no credit or applause.
By the way, if you’re into synthwave/outrun/retrowave/futuresynth/whatever you want to call it, this is my ever growing Spotify playlist of my favourites: https://t.co/LORZETmdb3
I now own three lava lamps. I always thought of them as incredibly kitsch and very hippie. But if you’re looking for some soft, coloured lighting to pair nicely with macOS Dark Mode and synthwave music whilst you write, they are perfect. Only Buddha can judge me.
The newsletter popup plague that I wrote about two years ago here: https://t.co/D6axdxbnGw is still alive and well and it upsets me. Why @MacSparky, why‽ :(
Let this trend die. It’s the web equivalent of a man asking for a woman’s phone number three seconds after meeting. https://t.co/C7PuE0FgwX
Hang on a second. The ’trends’ section of Twitter is actually ’trends tailored just for you’‽ I just always presumed they were general trends because I’ve never seen anything there that seems even remotely appropriate for my interests.
